Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the abrasion resistance of a tool in the case of mechanical working of ball bearing steel by forming a tool of single layer of Κ-Al2 O3 , which has an alumina film at a specified thickness and a specified texture coefficient and structured in the (210) direction. SOLUTION: A fire resistant layer coated body is formed of single layer of Κ-Al2 O3 , which has an alumina film at 0.25-25μm of thickness and a texture coefficient larger than 1,5, desirably, larger than 3.0 and which is structured in the (210) direction, and the texture coefficient is defined that TC(hkl)=I(hkl)/ I0 (hkI)×[(1/n)Σ I(hkl)/(hkl)}]<-1> . At this stage, I(hkl) means measuring strength of (hkl) reflection, I0 (hkl) means standard strength of ASTM standard powder pattern diffraction data, (n) means the number of diffraction used for computing, and the used (hkl) diffraction is (002), (112), (013), (122), (113), (032), (210), (222), (050).
